Now we are back with our completely new game system Ultracombat and some great new miniatures for you to fight battles both real or imagined in the modern era, anywhere in the world.
As part of the release the new miniature line includes ultra-modern Russian and Americans.
In this Kickstarter, as in our game Ultracombat, you can start small with just a squad and still qualify for our free page core Ultracombat rule set. Pledgers will be able to update these to printed copies, both hardback and softback in the backer kit.
We have created the following video to show how the system can be played at any scale from man-to-man scale through to squads and platoons. The system uses a unique card system to change the game scale with only a small amount of changes to the rules. Once players have learned the basics you know how to play the game regardless of scale. All backers will be involved in the final testing process and we will release a beta set of the full rules very quickly after the Kickstarter has finished.
The video below shows an overview of the spotting and shooting mechanic in the game. Now we believe we have created some the best modern miniatures on the market today. At Historicon this year where we showed off the initial casts we were told on a number of occasions by figure producers and sculptors that we are creating the best miniatures currently available, so anyone who pledges need not be worried about our abilities to deliver a quality product.
This will be an option in the backer kit that you will gain access to once the Kickstarter has closed. What will my pledge achieve? We want your help to produce is the rest of the miniatures for both infantry platoons and of course the support vehicles. Our goal is 2 full platoons of individuals miniatures , one US and one Russian and two kickass Vehicles that will be the pride of any wargamers collection.
This means that with each Stretch Goal that is unlocked we will produce new unique poses. If the campaign successfully funds all the troop Stretch Goals, 86 different figure poses would be created as a result. As you can see we have made a pretty good start to things, but we see this as just that, a start.
Our aim now is to hopefully fund this Kickstarter and to grow this line of miniatures. Shipping Information: Therefore, we will be able to charge the lowest shipping costs within those regions, versus trying to fulfil directly from one country to the rest of the world.
The small scale The reliance on counters is bound to be a turn-off for some players. Counters are needed to show Morale effects but also whether you're prone or kneeling or even if you're walking, running or crawling [we didn't use these ones]. Counters can be downloaded and I'd laminated there and they were a bugger to pick up! The level of factors in spotting, shooting and morale By the end we'd got the hang of this though and it had sped up.
Overall I think the verdict could be summed up as I think we both enjoyed them and can see some real potential for Afghan games.
If we could speed things up a bit [which may be down to us rather than the rules] and maybe find a way to reduce the reliance on counters they could be really good. Definitely worth checking out if modern games are your thing though.
More info can be found here The characters starts the game kneeling, so spends 1AP to stand up, spends 1 AP to run 6 and 1AP to stop by a dry stonewall, because he has run out of AP Paratrooper McGarry is standing up behind the stonewall and is considered stopped for all tests.
Masem draws a line of sight Los to Paratrooper McGarry. As a straight line can be drawn which passes through the orchard, across the corner of the poppy field and over the dry stonewall. Players always take the biggest cover modifier along the LoS, in this case the dry stonewall.
Player 2 decides he will try and shoot the Paratrooper. Masem spends his first AP spotting.
This represents the extra time and effort the character is taking to perform that action. Although the shot missed, Paratrooper McGarry will now have to take a morale roll. This is shown by placing a morale marker next to the figure, we use morale markers.
This is the end of phase 1 as no character has BDY attribute of 19 or Combat Phase 2 Player 2 In this activation phase the first active character is Atash Baseer, the sniper. Paratrooper McGarry now adds another morale marker to indicate he has now received fire twice. Player 1 The next active character is Paratrooper Sgt.
He can draw a line of sight to the sniper so spends 1AP spotting.
